A place of innovation and inspiration.
A place of innovation and inspiration.
Tigard High School Tech team is an after school club that promotes STEM education through participation in FIRST® Tech robotics competitions and other STEM related events. The Tech Team participates in several community outreach programs such as Tigard High School Halloween Rooms, the Homecoming Parade, Byrom and Templeton Elementary STEM nights. Tech team is run entirely on donations and fundraising efforts and one of the few clubs that has NO PARTICIPATION FEES.
Students of all skill sets are welcome!
FIRST Tech Challenge students learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming.
The Oregon Game Project Challenge is a video game development competition for middle school and high school students. Each fall, OGPC announces a theme for that year’s competition. Teams work to design a video game based on that theme to present at the main event in May.
Mentors are adults from all backgrounds and disciplines who share their knowledge, whether it is technical or non-technical with our Tech Team students. While our primary needs are for technical mentors, but we will never turn away a parent who wants to be involved in their child’s activities in a non-technical role. Ideally we have 2 mentors for each of our 4 FTC teams.
As a mentor of one of our teams, you will empower students to become young engineers and future game changers. You will work side by side students to build their leadership and problem-solving skills and, more importantly, their sense of belonging and self-confidence.
TTSD is currently requiring all volunteers to be fully vacinated.
